![]() It's no mystery that MS Excel files often contain a lot of valuable data, such as: personal information, billing records, financial transactions, and so on. What kind of information do these numbers give us? We can s urely infer that the software is rather intuitive and simple to use, which is a good thing at the same time, however, we can easily understand how b eing able to properly store, save, backup, and manage a huge number of MS Excel files might be not an easy task for these novice users. In an interview included in that study, only 6% of MS Excel users described themselves as “Expert” level in terms of their Microsoft Excel skills, and more than half of them describe themselves as “Intermediate” level. However, a recent study by Acuity Training found that more than half of MS Excel users - despite spending a lot of their time using the software - haven't ever received any formal training in it: in other words, they are self-taught users. Even if some users have started to ditch MS Excel in favor of Google Spreadsheets, the Microsoft software still holds a strong lead in the market share, with a whopping 1.1 billion people using Microsoft’s Productivity Services (which includes MS Excel), meaning that more than 1 in 8 people on the planet is using the product. Whether it’s a complex data sheet with tons of functions or a simple to-do task list, people use spreadsheets on a daily basis - and such behavior will likely continue like that for the years to come. Let's face it: we can either hate or love it, but in the last two decades MS Excel became a fundamental software for home and business usage all over the world.
